Full-time HVAC Technician

Salary: Payband I, $31.02 (start level) - $35.95 (4 year level)
Hours per week: 40 hours per week
Reports to:Manager, Electrical Mechanical Services
Effective Date:As soon as possible

Duties & Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance, repair and replacement of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems at the Barrie campus. Using automated building controls and computerized programs, the HVAC Technician maintains all aspects of energy use and efficiency on campus. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

•Replacing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems at the Barrie campus;
•Monitoring and scheduling building automation systems and controls;
•Maintaining and repairing gas piping and associated appliances;
•Installing and relocating HVAC and plumbing components as required by staff relocations; and
•Providing maintenance involving welding, mechanics, electricity and carpentry on systems associated with this position.

•Successfully completed academic training in sheet metal, welding (arc and acetylene) and carpentry (trade certification or equivalent).
•Must have the following licenses and industry certifications:
Multi Fuel Certification
G-1 Gas Fitters License
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic License
Industrial Air Conditioning
Ozone Depletion/Prevention (ODP) Card License
•Three years related HVAC experience preferably in an institutional environment.
•Computer skills (Microsoft Office and email) to produce organized material lists, complete work orders, and run reports from software packages.
•Experience monitoring/maintaining an HVAC system.
•Experience as an apprentice or assistant with Building Automation Systems (BAS) controls, heat pumps, split systems, Variable Volume and Temperature (VVT), chillers and boilers.
•Current Workplace Hazardous Materials System (WHMIS) training.
•Knowledge of local building codes.
•Ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces.
